Product Description:
THINKBOND 94S is a thermoreactive adhesive for bonding silicone elastomers (VMQ), PU with steel, aluminum, aramid, textile fibers and glass by vulcanization process. The textile fibers can be: Cotton, cellulose, polyamide, polyester and aramid. This adhesive is also used to promote adhesion between the elastomer and chemically treated surfaces which cannot be grit blasted such as: Phosphate steel, galvanized, chromate conversion treated and stainless, moreover ceramic engineering. THINKBOND 94S is a heavy metals free product.

Applications:
HOW TO PREPARE THE SURFACE: Prepare the metal surface properly by removing completely oil, grease and dirt. Blasting the surface with grit blasting steel so that the surface roughness is greater than 15 µm. For aluminum surfaces, we recommend the use of aluminum oxide as abrasive. Clean again the substrate to remove dust from blasting residues. THINKBOND 94S can be applied on surfaces treated by chemical processes such as galvanizing, phosphating, KTL... For the application as an adhesion promoter, we recommend to apply THINKBOND 94S above smooth and dry metal. Then you should apply the suitable adhesion system to the elastomer.
APPLICATION: Agitation: We recommend stir THINKBOND 94S before the application to avoid sedimentation.
Dilution: Dilution of the product depends on the applications methods. We recommend that dilution is always made with Methanol or Ethanol 99º GL. After dilution is recommended use all diluted product in the same day to avoid the hydrolysis reaction with possible decantation.
Dipping: For this application, we recommend diluting between 100 and 500% v/v.
Brushing: For this application, we recommend diluting between 100 and 500% v/v. Spray: For this application, we recommend diluting between 100 and 500% v/v.
Application Layer: The film obtained by applying THINKBOND 94S is extremely thin and colorless. The layer thickness must be between 1 and 4 µm. THINKBOND 94S is very reactive so we recommend that parts with THINKBOND 94S are cured the same day of the application.
Drying: Dry film between 10 and 30 minutes at room temperature. If it is necessary to reduce drying time, we recommend using forced air for 2 minutes at 65ºC maximum.
For drying, do not use process temperatures above 82ºC in order to avoid adhesive pre-cure. After this process, follow instructions to vulcanization.
Containers – Available in 4L, 18L and 200L UN approved containers.
